VSAT Indoor UnitEach Agiosat VSAT System is comprised of an outdoor unit (antenna and amplifier) and indoor electronics - modems, networking and power system. This equipment suite requires less than 15 inches of rack space, yet delivers the customer a wide range of enhanced capabilities.
A specialized satellite transmission architecture provides Agiosat subscribers with service features that include:
- Mesh Networking or “Single-Hop-On-Demand” (SHOD) service
- Enhanced network throughput
- Telephone & Video Teleconference/Telepresence Services
- Bandwidth changes on-demand
- Enhanced diagnostic monitoring and site management
- IPTV (September 2008)
Agiosat's Teleport Hubs transmit a Digital Video Broadcast signal to provide an advanced IP-centric multicast service. Connectivity is enhanced to guarantee each customer receives their contracted bandwidth at all times. However, as extra satellite bandwidth becomes available, the DVB receiver permits Agiosat to use that additional bandwidth to distribute more data at a higher level of service to customers.
The return signal from customer site to hub is provided via specialized modems, managed at a network level by Agiosat to automatically provide variable bandwidth to match client applications. Managed services - Data, Voice, Video and 2-way Radio, are "direct-connected" with a single “hop” between sites. This 50% reduction in delay enhances all latency-sensitive services such as telephony, 2-way radio and streaming media.
Agiosat has a Cisco AVVID network backbone, meshing with Cisco routers and switches at the customer site to interface with the client's existing IP infrastructure, and provide a connection point for Agiosat’s telephony and video options.
Agiosat uses zero-transfer time, full-float, power conditioner and Uninterruptible Power Supplies (UPS) to provide clean and constant power to the satellite equipment, regardless of the source of customer mains power.
